The Nishiki Food Market is a narrow, shopping street, lined by more than one hundred shops. The market has been opened for centuries and many stores have been operated by the same families for generations. You can find various kinds of fresh and processed items including many Kyoto specialties, such as pickles, Japanese sweets, dried food, sushi, and fresh seafood and vegetables. I was amazed even though I wasn’t able to recognize several products. It’s definitely a must see in Kyoto!
