Roppongi Hills by Night - Tokyo - Japan

If you tell most of the Japanese that you are going to Roppongi Hills, they will probably stare at you with a bit of embarrassment. This area gained a negative connotation after World War II, because it was the place where the American soldiers used to go out for entertainment (bars, hostess places and so on).
These days, Roppongi Hills is one of the preferred residential areas for expats: it has a lot modern developments including upscale condominiums, art galleries, shopping malls, and gardens.
It also has a vast offer of nightlife entertainment: bars, clubs, music venues, and it preserved a bit of a westernized vibe.
I went out for dinner and some drinks, and ended up in a karaoke room on the 7th floor of a building with spectacular views over Tokyo Tower.
The atmosphere outside was great, Japan was about to play against Denmark (they won 3-1), so once I finished Karaoke, I found groups of cheerful supporters appropriately dressed.

Food Replicas outside Japanese Restaurants - Tokyo - Japan

In Japan it’s very common to see food replicas of the menus, outside the restaurants. These are showcased in windows, to help potential customers identify easily the eating options at each eatery. The food replicas serve to attract customers, advertise menus and in most cases to stimulate appetite. All the replicas are handcrafted to perfection: from soup, to noodles with pork, to pizza with extra cheese, to sushi or sashimi with white rice there are no limits to creativity. Is it difficult to imagine? Well...have a look at the pictures below...every dish you will see is a replica.

Earthquake on Sunday morning - Tokyo - Japan

This morning I was standing and was shaken by a 4.3 magnitude earthquake. It was very short and intense. But I don’t complain at all, the previous one I felt was circa 6.6 magnitude so...this one was quite acceptable.
