Pulau
Kapas means Cotton Island in Malay a
designation attributed due to the pure white beaches of this Island. Circa 6 hours’
drive north of Kuala Lumpur and a 15 minutes boat ride from Marang, the Island has idyllic
beaches, pristine waters and amazing snorkeling. There are several places to
stay, Kapas Beach Chalet has a relaxed international atmosphere and it’s a favorite
among backpackers. The bar next door is the only place which serves alcohol in
the island. Kapas Turtle Valley has nice bungalows in a secluded beach. It’s
owned by a friendly Dutch couple and it’s renowned for serving great food. Quimi Chalet is owned by a Malay family and
serves amazing Thai food. There are a few jungle trails and sport activities (scuba
diving, kayaking). It's a great place to relax as well as to socialize with other travelers!
