A few weeks ago, I was introduced to Wagashi and now I’ve tried my absolute favourite: chestnut wagashi. I am planning a visit to the Wagashi museum, so…I might announce a new favourite after that.
For the past few weeks, the daily temperature in Tokyo has been on average 34 degrees Celsius! Tomorrow it might even reach a maximum of 36 degrees Celsius. These days, it’s common to see people using umbrellas for sun protection!
Today I visited the Jade Ore Museum in Tokyo. This is the only museum in Japan specialized in Jade. It opened in 2002 with a collection of the curator Nobuyuki Tsurumi, to preserve the jade gemstone in Itoi River, Omi ( Nigata Prefecture). It’s a small museum with a very interesting collection.
After nearly one month away, I am back in Tokyo. I thought about spending this month travelling in Japan but, it’s cheaper to go on holidays abroad. So tonight to celebrate my return I went out for dinner and drinks in Tamachi. This is one of the areas in Tokyo that has suffered a lot of transformation. Once known as a place where rice was grown, today is a concrete ‘’jungle’’. During the economic Japanese miracle Tamachi became a business centre and is now the home of several embassies and major companies. It is also the nearest JR station to Keio University and Temple University Japan. Most of its population consists of students and workers who commute every day from different parts of the city.
