I have learned that Japanese is a combination of three different scripts. The first, Kanji, consists of ideographic characters and the other two, hiragana and katakana, are syllabic scripts - each character represents a syllable.
These are some of the sentences that I have learned so far:

No: iie
Yes:hai
You're welcome: do itashimashite
Cheers: Kampai
Good afternoon: Konnichiwa
Goodbye: Sayonara

ReplyDeleteSo far I had only worked out sayonara and hai (especially hai you hear all the time in Tokyo I noticed, even when the answer is actually 'no')
Have you worked out the Japanese words for bleach, soap and sugar in the mean time?
